AI AND ROBOTICS – We interact with them daily

AI and Robotics technology are here to stay. How can it be seen as a problem solver rather than a threat, like stealing our jobs away? Obviously, they both still need people, so we need workforce to control and maintain them. Not forgetting that they can give us more comfort and freedom in our lives.

The Coronavirus, AI and Robotics have forced us to rethink the way we work
Chat bot can take the pressure of answering manually, it can be taught to handle even 85% of chats. It can save hundreds of hours of normal customer service jobs and it is open 24/7. From company´s view this is great, but customer service people may not be so happy when they hear that software replaces them.

No machine will ever completely replace a human? Well, we are using them already, here are few examples:

AI Artificial intelligent and machine learning

AI has become a must in our everyday lives. I am referring to Google, after all they handle over 3.5 billion searches every day!

1. GOOGLE SEARCH

Write something in Google search box topic and it automaticly “sniffs” your future key-strokes and makes your experiense easier. It even helps you to find the right spelling.

2. GOOGLE LENS

It will analyze what you see through your camera and shows you results.

3. GMAIL SPAM

Without AI your email would be impossible to handle, because of thousands of junk mails.

4. GOOGLE VOICE SEARCH

Try singing something like “Love me tender love me sweet” and AI gives you matching video with a much better quality, I mean who could beat Elvis??

5. NETFLIX

The algorithm learns as your personal data grows so it gives you more specific movies per your viewings. Traditional television networks don’t have these kinds of privileges in their broadcasting, so that´s why streaming has become
so much more popular and more targeted as it can use its users data (2021/over 130 M users)

ROBOTICS

1. AROUND HOME
“Who wants to do vacuuming?” You ever have that conversation at home? Well, Dyson’s Robotic Cleaner memorizes and covers most areas in your house and can help to ease the burden of vacuuming. Meanwhile in the yard, another robot is cutting the grass, while a third is cleaning the pool, checking the chemical mix of the water and calculating the life left in the filters.

2. PROPERTY PROTECTION
A Robot, called Spykee is controlling property through the Internet. It watches, hears, monitors and speaks on demand. Takes pictures, records videos, makes phone calls and protects the family home through video surveillance.

3. ASSISTED LIVING ENVIRONMENTS
A Korean robot in the shape of a chair can carry human beings weighing up to 220 pounds and is controlled with a joystick. Robots can assist people to get out of bed and can even provide a sense of companionship for those who are lonely.

4. EDUCATION
In San Diego, California robot is a teacher’s assistant by teaching the kids how to sing and help them to pronounce words. Although you all want to have a rock star teaching you, but this can be a start! Robotic toys are already available from different manufacturers like Lego.

5. HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT
Hospitals can program robots to distribute medication to patients but also even perform complex surgeries meaning a surgeon sits at the controls and sees everything through a camera, a robotic arm conducts the actual surgery, which helps maximize precision in delicate surgeries. “Finland’s social and health care sector is lagging in the use of cost-saving automation technology, the surface has barely been scratched when it comes to more developed tech says robotics advocate Cristina Andersson.

Andersson is involved in a project by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health called Airo Island, which promotes the use of robotics, artificial intelligence and automation in Finland.

6. RESTAURANTS
Japan leads the world in robot technology by using robots in restaurant kitchens to make sushi and chop vegetables.  Some robots specialize in making coffee, starting with the beans.

7. CRIME
Police forces use robots to check buildings to check the location of criminals they expect to be armed and dangerous.
Drones and other equipments are already being used governments. The flip side is when they reach terrorists groups.

So when done correctly we can benefit from AI and robotics and this new technology will bring us more freedom and security. We just need to be wise enough and control them, not the opposite.
