I was priviledged to attend as a volunteer and to see how SHIFT 2020 in Turku Finland was made. Shift is a business festival and a movement challenging companies to build this world a better place. Having Covid-19 at the same time was a huge challenge which changed the on-site festival into 100% virtual festival.
The 3D platform was done on VirBELA, which was originally designed to be a virtual resource for graduate management schools and students worldwide. Now they are offering the software also to businesses to hold exhibitions virtually. With lockdowns happening around the globe this way you can still bring people together from around the world for a fraction of the cost of flying. Ingenious!
”We bring our vision to life by redefining the future of work through a virtual reality experience.”
The change is happening all the time around us and especially here at the festival you could sense the excitement around sustainable and intelligent business that can still be profitable. Companies like Gofore, Berggen, Sofocus, Moosedog and many more were sharing their ideas of what companies can do to us. We also had international speakers like Mikko Alasaarela (Inbot), Elina Moisio (Miltton Networks), Timo Huhtisaari (St1 Nordic), Ville Mujunen (Ninchat), Rita McGrath (professor, Columbia Business school), Gunter Pauli (Author), Sirpa Pietikäinen (MEP, EU), Risto E.J Penttilä (Nordic West Office) and many many more attending either on site or via live stream.
Thank you for this mindblowing experiment!
Together we will get through this, that is the only way.
